About–

–dave (me)
Short autobiography, here it goes. I love to teach, do sports, work with wood, take pictures and work hard on good things. I graduated, worked some, worked some in Guatemala, now I have worked a year as a substitute teacher in Alaska and learned a bit of rugby. In August I move to a village named Diomede to teach math and science. I thoroughly enjoy eating corn chips and salsa and I’m almost completely sure I want to live near an ocean*. Jesus taught it all, real simple too, asked people to follow him to God, and he got killed, very badly at that. Wild stuff, huh? Even better: the part of the story where he doesn’t stay dead. Ever since I discovered the joy of jumping off of things I’ve dreamed about flying. Literally.

*I wrote here my desire to live near the ocean long, long before I signed on to teach at Diomede.

Yours truly, on top of a mountain

The front porch has is a great place to watch and hear and smell the season. Life comes in seasons like the weather does, and it’s good to sit down, once in a while, with a hot cup of coffee and just take it in. Even righter if it’s sitting on the front porch. When there’s not a porch, a curb works well too.

–the blog:
Thoughts and ideas and photos, sometimes rants or raves and an occasional story. Some of it’s 100% made by me, some of it’s not. I like to think it’s like lemonade, or limeade: zing, sugar, and a bit of pulp to pick out of your teeth.

Inspirations (a few of the many): Hemingway, Frost, Cartier-Bresson, Teddy R., Aaron Huey, Faulkner, Jesus, Galois, Cash, Einstein, Dr. Reichgott, Cormac McCarthy, U2
